Looking for the main support page?

Cash Tracker lets you export your data via email. You can use this feature to import your data into a desktop application, to analyze your spending in more detail, or for preparing expense reports. Here are some of the most common questions I get about export, but feel free to contact me directly if you need additional assistance.

How do I export my data?
From the Report tab, tap on the info button in the upper-right hand corner, then tap the Export button on the toolbar.

What are the two types of export?
Report exports have a summary of your transaction history similar to what you see on the report tab. They're useful if you want a high-level overview.
Transaction exports have a list of very transaction. They're useful if you want to import your data into another program.

What is a CSV file?
A Comma-Separated value file is a standard format for exporting spreadsheet data. Pretty much any spreadsheet program can import a csv.

Non-ASCII symbols aren't importing properly
The CSV format doesn't include official support for non-ASCII characters. Many applications import them correctly, but some (including Excel) have trouble with them. If you're using a Mac, Numbers is one of several applications that imports them correctly.

Can I export to Google Docs?
No. Although the Google Docs feature in version 2 was cool, it turned out to be less reliable than I'd hoped. For version 3 I've gone with a simpler and more stable solution.
